Travel season appears to be upon us and one thing on everyone's mind with longer flights, aside from what amazing souvenir they're going to bring back for their doctor, is how they're going to sleep when they reach their destination. A lot of people ask for a sleep aid to help with this or the flight itself, but as I'm always a proponent of doing things naturally instead of with a controlled substance that can have a lot of side effects, I thought looking at another option would be nice.
Long ago I heard someone talk about how to dose melatonin before travelling to adjust your body to the new time zone and while I couldn't find that information exactly, I did find something that seems pretty great just by happenstance.
Jet Lag Rooster seems to have a really good system worked out for those interested. It tells you when you should ideally try to expose yourself to light and dark and when to take melatonin if you'd like to try it. It seems to be just the interest of a psychologist without any commercial input, so I'd recommend checking it out and let me know what you think if you try it.
